In this lecture, the group walks through the Museum (Bale Daja and Bale Dauh) to see the unique collection of Agung Rai. Their guide will give in the information about the history of painting in Bali, the paintings on exhibition and the differing styles, as well as an overview of contemporary Indonesian artists.

This is a visit to an examplary workshop where the guests are introduced the general idea of the model activities prevailing in a workshop of wood carving. The group will learn some basic knowledge and several carving techniques and get acquainted with the tools used. So each person will carve his or her own wood. Individual skill applied to the carving will determine whether or not each will be able to succeed in completing his or her job. The needed tools and materials are provided accordingly.

This lecture provides basic information concerning the traditional dance within the ritual context. Two of the most famous dancers in Bali will demonstrate the particular movements and the attending steps. Afterwards, the participants will be given the opportunity to learn and practice the dance by themselves. Formerly, the dance was patronized by local rajas and held in e puri, residence of the royal family of the village. Dancers were recruited from the aptest and prettiest children.Your teachers are young Balinese women who learned to dance the Legong since child hood. They will teach you the art of the Legong dance.

Baris, a traditional war dance, glorifies the man hood of the triumphant Balinese warrior. The word baris means a line, in the sense of a line of soldiers, and referred to the warriors who fought for the kings of Bali. He must undergo rigorous training to obtain the skill and flexibility that typifies the chivalrous elegance of a soldier. A Baris dancer must be supple, able to sit on his heels, keeping his knees spread wide apart in line with his body. His face must be mobile to convey fierceness, disdain, pride, acute alertness, and, equally important, compassion and regret-the characteristics of a warlike noble.

This is a workshop where participants will learn about may features of Balinese batik, foremost of which are its form, motifs, techniques used, and its history. An interesting hint is to compare and find the difference between the motifs unique to Balinese batik and this motifs representative of the Javanese batik for instructive reference. In this workshop, each participant will receive a set of utensils and try to make a piece of Balinese batik.
