Buses:
These prices vary quite a bit too. All buses to the north (Cirebon)
and east leave from Pulo Gadung Terminal, while buses to the south
leave from Cililitan Bus Station. Sample fares: Bandung, Rp560;
Bogor, Rp180 (train is cheaper, Rp150); Semarang, Rp900; Solo,
Rp2400; Blitar, Rp4500; Yogya, Rp2200; Surabaya, Rp4500. Bis malam
(night buses) travel at night and are faster and more expensive
than the hotter day buses; these usually leave from where the
company's offices are situated. bus companies: 4848, JI. Prapatan
Kwitang 34, has small (seats only 10) fast buses to Bandung, door
to door, for Rp1850. Cheaper are suburban taxi companies, Rp750
to Bandung. Elteha minibus Co., JI. Tanah Abang Timur 16 A: Semarang,
Rp1800; Solo, Rp3200. Kembang Express, JI. Krekot Raya, or Damri
(government-run), JI. Mataram Raya- both have buses to: Surabaya,
Rp4000-5000; Yogya, Rp2200-3000. by road: Instead of the main
highway, take the back road to Bogor via'Depok for an unfrequented
ride in the country; rice paddies, vegetable plots, rubber and
sugar plantations, a more hopeful introduction to the island of
Java.
