stay and eat: Perhaps you can stay for free in a warung if you buy all your meals there. There are also places to sleep without roofs, Rp50. About 20 /osmens line the main road down to the beach. They all look the same. No electricity. Rooms rent for Rp150-250. Right at the entrance of the village on the left is Suharjo's, the headman's, with Rp200 (mattress and window), Rp150 (no window but mattress), and Rp100 (with window, no mattress) rooms. A big warung with drinks and food (cap cat, Rp100) served. Try the coconut and egg cookies (Rp10 each), black rice pudding, etc. Many other good eating warungs. Widodo's is Rp250 single, Rp400 double, and has good cheap food. A couple of doors down from Widodo's is Rumah Makan Soponyono which has rooms for Rp100 (only 2 with padlocks). Pang. Parang Endong is a little beyond the village, Rp4-500 per night for one or two; sleep on mats. Has a well-kept and clean freshwater swimming pool.
