Belahan: A bathing place in a quiet clearing in the jungle on the west side of G. Penanggungan. It dates from 1049 A.D. King Airlangga spent 13 years in a hermit's cave before taking the throne; this could be his burial monument. Belahan sits on 3 shady overgrown terraces and is still used as a bathing place. There are two 4-armed statues of goddesses, Lakshmi and Shri, in location. The water trickling from their nipples is looked upon as the nectar of the gods by the locals who call this place Sumbergambar, literally 'the spring from the sculptures'. These statues once flanked the splendid statue of Vishnu carried by Garuda which you can now see totally out of context in Mojokerto's Museum.
