Dance: The
Kecak and Legong Dances are put on for tourists, Rp600. The Balinese
won't let you peep at the performances around the side of the
dance like the rest of the people; tourists must go through the
front and pay. Because it takes place usually from 11 pm to 5
am, few westerners ever attend arja (opera), Rp200. You see tour
companies advertising the Fire Dance and the Virgin Dance, both
for Rp2000. The Virgin Dance is actually a much watered down version
of the famous trancedance, Sangyang Dedari. To learn dance it's
generally cheaper to study in Ubud (Rp400-500 an hour) than in
Kuta (Rp500-600 an hour).
