TIRTA GANGGA

Tirtagangga Water Palace: From Amlapura it's Rp25 by bemo or bus to the highway turn-off to Tirtagangga. Then it's 5 km further by bemo, Rp50. One of the nicest losmens and prettiest places in all of Bali, Peng. Dhangin Taman Inn has its own entrance to the water palace; Rp700 double with gigantic rooms and big double beds, sunlight streaming through the windows. Swim laps in big flower-strewn pools that are filled from freshwater mountain streams. Run by Nyoman Dauh, the one with the ear to ear smii.. Nyoman cooks huge meals for Rp2-300. Eating stalls near the losmen have cheaper food; nasi campus Rp75, peanuts, fruits and such. from Tirtagangga: Climb the hill in the back and walk 1 % km to the village where there are occasional cockfights. Come back by way of the road which winds up through the valley; coconut palms, ricefields, the sea in the distance, and the biggest mountain on Bali towers right above. For Singaraja, buses pass right in front of Dhangin Inn at 3, 4, 5, and 6 am, doing the 87 km trip for Rp350. Have Nyoman wake you up.
