There's a fighting system practiced in the Karangasam District, called ende, which originated in West Flores. Using sticks or whips, and shields, the combatants wear hoods for protection and take turns to formally attack each other (3 blows each). Iseh, on a dirt road north of Amlapura in the foothills of Gunung Agung, is salak growing country. This road continues on to Klungkung; unique landscapes. At the eastern extremity of the island is Seraya Volcano, now a vast ruin. Walk to it from the village of Ngis, a 6 hour climb. Buddahkling, between Amlapura and Tirtagangga, is a Mahayana Buddhist colony on the slopes of G. Agung. There live two different castes of Buddhists here who have retained prehistoric feasting traditions.
