Lying right on the main road, Cakra is a focal point for transportation to all over the island. Take buses, Colts, and bemos to: Mataram, Rp25; Ampenan, Rp25; Narmada, Rp25; Labuhan Lombok (on the east coast), Rp300; Prays, Rp100; Selong, Rp250; Sukaraja, Rp200 by bus. If heading for the east coast, it's better to get a bus straight through to Labuhan Lombok rather than stopping in Selong, a nasty place with a lot of thieves. Officially, it's said that thieves are killed, but in reality a boy can't marry until he's stolen something successfully. for Sumbawa Island: Stay in Cakranegara overnight (Labuhan Lombok hasn't much to recommend it) and get up to catch the 6 am bemo to Labuhan Lombok as the boat leaves from there at 9 am, costs Rp2000 (possible to get student price of Rp1500 if you buy ticket from the captain).
